At TMN Events and our subsidiaries, Presenting Boise and Destination Sun Valley, we are committed to the principles of reduce, reuse, and recycle. We believe that, as a company, it's not only in our best interest to promote sustainable practices that benefit the community we work and live in, but it's our obligation. By reducing our carbon footprint, we are helping to preserve the earth for future generations. There are simple, responsible actions we take on a daily basis that cut down on needless energy consumption. Like us, you can do your part by trying a few of the following ideas:

  • Consider the environment before printing emails or other documents. Do you really need a hard copy?
  • When planning events, instead of serving bottled water, serve water in pitchers to keep plastic out of our landfills.
  • When selecting venues, work with hotels/conference centers to supply bins for recycling and find venues that have strong environmental policies and practices.
  • Plan carefully when catering breaks and meals so food is not wasted.
  • Turn off lights - Artificial lighting accounts for 44 percent of the electricity use in office buildings. Make it a habit to turn off the lights when you're leaving any room for 15 minutes or more and utilize natural light when you can.
  • Make it a policy to buy Energy Star-rated light bulbs and fixtures, which use at least two-thirds less energy than regular lighting.
  • Turning off equipment when it's not being used can reduce energy consumption by 25 percent.
  • Turning off the computers at the end of the day can save an additional 50 percent. This includes unplugging power strips at the end of the day, because they consume energy even when the equipment is shut off.
  • Enable the energy saving settings on PCs and peripherals. A computer in idle mode uses 20 to 50 times the power of a computer in standby mode.
  • Disable your screen savers to reduce energy use. Studies show that a monitor in screen saving mode uses significantly more energy than one in standby mode.
  • Consider using flat panel liquid crystal display (LCD) monitors versus conventional CRT monitors. LCD monitors provide up to 70% power savings and provides up to twice the lifespan of CRT monitors.
